#077: Your Problem Is Not Your Problem ๐Ÿ‘‘

The gap between where you are and where God called you to be is almost never a capability problem. It is a belief problem with a specific solution.

๐Ÿ“Œ TL;DR Summary

  • The Problem: We treat inaction as a lack of resources, talent, or timing, when it is almost always an unaddressed belief problem.
  • The Word: Hebrews 11:1, 11:3, and 12:2 (KJV) show that faith is the foundation beneath your feet and the framework through which unseen reality takes shape.
  • The Shift: Stop fixing your gaze on the obstacle. Look through the problem to the promise until Godโ€™s word becomes more real than the circumstances.

โณ THE REAL OBSTACLE

Ask yourself this question honestly:

๐Ÿ’ก The Self-Audit: If failure were 100% impossible, what would you do?

Not eventually. Not someday. This year. If the outcome were guaranteed, what would you build, write, launch, start, or step into that you are not currently doing?

Whatever just came to mind, that gap between your answer and your current reality is the diagnosis. And the diagnosis is almost never capability. It is almost never timing. It is almost never resources.

It is belief.

๐Ÿ“– THE WORD

โ€œNow faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.โ€
Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Most people read Hebrews 11:1 as a poetic definition of faith. It is actually an architectural description of how faith functions as a foundation.

The word โ€œsubstanceโ€ comes from two Latin roots: sub (meaning under) and stance (meaning to stand upon). Faith is the invisible ground beneath your feet. Everything you build stands on top of it. When the ground is shaky, nothing built on it feels secure.

The limitations in your life are almost never about what you can do. They are about what you believe the outcome will be before you take the first step.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ FOUR PILLARS THAT CHANGE EVERYTHING

1. Faith Is Foundational

You sit in a chair without testing it first. You do not calculate the load-bearing capacity before you commit your weight. You look at it, form an implicit belief that it will hold, and sit down.

Every action in life works the same way. Every input is preceded by an expected outcome. If you believe the outcome will fail, you hesitate to execute the input.

Procrastination is not laziness. Writerโ€™s block is not a creativity deficit. Inaction is almost always a belief problem wearing a different costume. Faith is foundational because without it, nothing else moves.

2. Faith Is a Framework

โ€œThrough faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.โ€
Hebrews 11:3 (KJV)

Everything physical was made from something invisible. Every building began as a blueprint in an architectโ€™s mind. Every physical object began as an intangible concept before it manifested in three dimensions.

Scripture says the worlds were framed by the word of God: framed just like a house is framed before the drywall goes up. The invisible frames the visible. That means the invisible reality of Godโ€™s promise for your life is far more substantial than the physical circumstances currently contradicting it.

Belief precedes understanding. You do not get the explanation first and then believe. You believe first, and then the understanding follows.

3. Faith Is Functional

This is where most faith collapses. People believe in theory, but they refuse to step out in practice. Consider how Scripture models functional faith in action:

  • Noah (Building Without Rain): Noah was 480 years old. He had never seen rain fall from the sky. Yet God told him to build a massive ship in the middle of a desert. He did not argue about how the vessel would reach water. He built the boat for 120 years, consistently, on a promise that defied every available piece of physical evidence. He trusted God to bring the water to the boat, and God did.
  • David (Running Toward the Giant): David was a teenager. Goliath stood ten feet tall with a sixteen-pound spearhead. The entire army of Israel, full of seasoned warriors, was hiding in fear. David ran directly toward the giant. Not because he was blind to the danger, but because his conviction in the covenant was larger than his awareness of the threat.
  • The Three in the Furnace (The โ€œBut If Notโ€ Standard): Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego looked the king in the eyes and said: God is able to deliver us, but if not, we still will not bow. That is the highest altitude of functional faith. Not faith that demands its preferred outcome, but faith that obeys regardless of whether the circumstances cooperate. Most people have conditional faith that crumbles when pressure mounts. The โ€œbut if notโ€ believers possess functional faith that holds through the fire.

Functional faith is not the absence of fear. It is the presence of a conviction powerful enough to move your feet toward what everyone else is fleeing from.

4. Faith Is Focal

โ€œLooking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.โ€
Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)

Here is the adversaryโ€™s oldest playbook: he drops a problem, a pain, or a peril right in front of your face. Not to stop you, because he cannot veto what God has ordained, but to obstruct your view of the promise sitting directly behind it.

Most believers fall into the trap of fixating on the obstacle. They analyze it, stress over it, post about it, and pray desperately for its removal. Meanwhile, the promise it was blocking remains untouched and true, merely obscured.

Focal faith learns to look clean through the problem to the promise. It does not deny the problem exists or pretend the pain is imaginary. It simply refuses to let the obstacle dictate the focal point.

Jesus endured the cross by looking straight past it. He despised the shame, not by downplaying the brutality of the crucifixion, but by anchoring His focus on the joy set before Him: the resurrection, our redemption, and His seat at the right hand of the Father. He traded anxious apprehension for joyful anticipation. That same discipline of focus is available to every believer today.

๐Ÿ”ฅ THE WORK

Return to the opening question: If failure were 100% impossible, what would you do?

Whatever surfaced in your spirit is not an accident. It is tied directly to the calling God placed within you before you drew your first breath. The gap between that assignment and your present reality is a belief gap, not a talent gap or a resource gap.

Belief gaps close the exact same way they always have: through the Word of God, through the testimonies of the faithful, and through the daily practice of looking through the problem until the promise becomes clearer than the mountain.

The water came to the boat. The giant fell. The furnace burned the ropes and left the men standing. Your obstacle is not your graveyard; it is your introduction. Fix your focus. Activate the faith. Move.

๐Ÿ› PRAYER CORNER

โ€œFather, we confess we have been staring at the problem instead of looking through it at the promise.

We called our inaction wisdom. We called our hesitation patience. We called our belief problem a timing problem and used it to stay safe.

Forgive us. You framed the worlds with Your word before anything physical existed. The invisible is more real than what we can see. Your promise for our lives is more true than the obstacle currently blocking our view of it.

Activate our faith. Give us Noahโ€™s consistency, Davidโ€™s courage, and the conviction of the three in the furnace.

We fix our focus on the promise today. Not on the problem.

Amen.โ€
